All of fers for advertising space have been refused. Distribution of seed will be made among specially selected farmers. It would be impossible for the train to carry seed for distribution to every farmer who will attend the demonstra tion, and the desire Is to ,iace it In the hands of men who It Is known will make an effort to utilise the seed In the manner recommended by the Agricultural College experts accom panying the train. With thli end In view the commercial and farmers' or ganizations In the communities to be visited are to be asked to recom mend men who will give the seeds the best test possible. Seed Tohm Desired. Charges that King Leo pold robbed the state of many mil lions and that the money had been partly dissipated by the reckless ex travagances of the Baroness Vaughn whose deathbead marriage to the lute king has been recognized by the church and her two sons ennobled were made during a stormy session of the chamber of deputies recently. In an effort to recover to the state misappropriated funds and its legal Bhare in the estate of Leopold inter pellations were made In the chamber respecting the late king's legacies and almost Immediately provoked a heat ed discissuion which was still in pro gress at tho time of adjournment Ad missions by the minister of the colo nies, M. Renkin, that he had been de ceived by' Leopold in the financial af fairs of the Congo may result In an undeniable demand for his resigna tion. XI.. Vondervelde, the socialist lead er, charged that King Leopold had deceived his ministers and had be queathed his Immense lllgotten for tune through the creation of Illegal companies composed of "straw" men. The greater part of this fortune, he said, was profit from tho late king's malodorous administration of the Congo and funds of the crown domain, whose assets should revert to Belgium with annexation. M. Jensen, a liberal, asserted that many millions had disappeared from the Congo treasury, and amid a scene of excitement demanded to know what money had maintained the ex travagance of the Baroness Vaughn's establishment at Balincourt. The minister of the colonies rose to make arswer, and under the fire of questions admitted that he had been deceived In certain respects on the Congo fund. This admission brought cries of "Resign!" "Resign!" from members of tho chamber and to re lievo the embarrassment was allowed to go over. (Contributed.) The dedication of the new Chris tian church yesterday was a decided success in every way. The building was crowded with people who began to arrive as early as 9 o'clock. The Sunday school session was largely at tended, and at the close of the session an Invitation was given and twenty people came forward to confess their belief In Jesus the Son of God. The dedicatory 'sermon was deliv ered by Charles Reign Scoviile of Chi cago. He held the audience In his power for about an hour, then made the call for funds to meet the amount required to finish the building. The people responded very liberally and cheerfully and within a short time ten thousand dollars was subscribed. Praise Service, A praise service was held in the afternoon. In which all the local prot estant churches joined. There were short speeches of congratulation from Dr. Bleakney of the Presbyterian church, Dr. Evans of the M. E. church. Rev. Storle of the Baptist church. Rev. Mcldrum, former pastor, and Rev. Calllson of Helix. The af ternoon meeting closed with a union communion service. In the evening the building was again crowded and every seat was ta ken. Another effort was made to se cure funds, and two thousand dollars more was secured. The sermon was an able one. in which Dr. Scoviile said in part: "When John the Baptist came and said, 'I nm going to make the crooked paths straight.' he went on to do It. Not to bring down hills like these, but hills of iniquity." The doctor then went on to speak of the common sins of the people and In referring to the saloons and the young men w" o frequent them, said: "Tho young girl who hangs on to a Jug haiftlle and later calls that thing her husband, the wife who has a jug handle for a husband and the mother who encourages her daughter to mar r)' such things are very unfortunate. The young girls should not be shoved off and encouraged to marry such things. "The boy should be js pure as the girl. Tou cannot buy virtue and char acter. I expect to live long enough to see every state in the union dry, and the beautiful stars and stripes will float over the United States with out floating over the saloon." Speaking of gambling, card parties, etc, he said: "Tou never can save the boys until the women of this country stop gambling for cream pitchers, etc. They all play the Bame games, use the same cards and at the same hours. The only difference is that the boy plays It In the back room of a saloon and his mother plays It in the fash ionable home at card parties." At the close of this sermon another Invitation was given and seven made the start for Jesus. To War on House Fly. Washington. Halley's comet will be visible to the naked eye, Just be fore dawn on April 8. or shortly af ter that date, states W. W. Sampbell, director of Lick Observatory, on Mount Hamilton. "While it is never possible to pre dict how bright a comet is going to be." he said recently, "it is safe to say that the head and perhaps a little of the tail of the comet will be visible at this time. "On May 18 the comet will pass be tween the earth and the sun at a dis tance of 14,000,000 miles from the earth. On this day the earth may pass through the tail of the comet, but, there is no danger for terrestrial life as at this distance from the head the tail of the comet will be extremely at tenuated The passage of the comet between the sun and earth cannot be observed to advantage from Califor nia, because the sun will be close to the horizon, and observations will have to be made through a great ex tent of terrestrial atmosphere.
