The prison manufacture about a er products made from raw jute, and at the close of the season last year some bags were on hand. Early In the season the prlep was fixed at $7.20 per hundred, but later the figures were changed to J6.80. The trust bag was put on the market at about $7.20 laid down here and the farmers union made large purchases direct early In the summer. In two or three deals the farmers bought nearly 1,000,000 bags while the prison product wan forgotten. The Calcutta shipments were received early in the feason and most far million bags a year In addition to oth- m(.rs found that they had purchased too heavily for the light crop. In this way it was possible for one farmer to supply his neighbor with the surplus of his order and the usual late orders were entirely lacking.
