Eight Go to Salem For AAUW Meet Eight members of the Eugene; Branch of American Association of University Women attended the state board meeting and workshop in Salem Friday and Saturday. This was arranged by Mrs. dent Robert Y. Thornton, prcsi of the Oregon Division of: AAUW, and other members of the stale board. Brattain School To Greet Teachers A teachers' reception at Brat tain School, Springfield, Wednes day will begin with children intro ducing parents to teachers in various rooms at 7:30 p.m. The general meeting will be in the gymnasium where a program will be given. Mrs. Stanley Hasek will preside and Mrs. Elizabeth Bennett, principal, will introduce the teachers. Refreshments will bo served by PTA officers. Girl Scout Leaders To Get Training New ideas for Fall troop meet ing will be presented to all Girl Scout and Brownie leaders of Three Rivers Girl Scout Council area Wednesday and Thursday, at the Springfield Scout House. Meetings are planned to give leaders an opportunity to renew friendships and to get inspiration for their first fall troop meetings. Mrs. R. M. New District President Visits Eugene Unit Mrs. Gerald Preston, Vida, new- district three president, made her official visit to Eugene Unit of American Legion Auxiliary at its meeting Tuesday evening at Vet erans Memorial Bldg. Mrs. Treslon gave a short talk on the rehabilitation work car ried on by the Legion auxiliaries at the Portland Velerans Hos pital. Girl Staters reported on the week they spent in Salem attend ing Girls' State. They were Miss Joan Cunder and Miss Margaret Rush of Willamette High School, Miss Kay Baxley and Miss Carol McKeenan of Eugene High School and Miss Gail Childers of St. Francis High School. Mrs. Leslie Hardie presenled Mrs. Loyd Sims, unit president, with the silver tray won at con vention for the use of the unit this coming year. It was voted lo send the first vice president, Mrs. L. H. Hughes, and the secretary, Mrs. Audley Kanouse, to the president's and secretary's conference in Port land Sept. 28 and 29. Sixty dollars was allowed for the check-of-thc-month fund. This fund is for cigarettes, candy and other items for the patients in the veteran's hospitals in Oregon.
