Wholesale Sales Shows Big Drop NEW YORK (U.R) The Dun & Bradstreet wholesale food price index dropped 13 cents in the week which ended Tuesday. It was the widest break in more than seven months. The drop cut the index to $5.72, lowest since Juiy 19, and wiped out most of a net gain of 19 cents since the Index started ris ing on July 12. This week last year, the index stood at $6.82. Breaks in the prices of edible oils and declines in grain and livestock markets were largely re sponsible for the big drop. The previous widest decline ;ws 1 drop of 22 cents In the .week ended Feb 8. i Of the 31 food? used in com ! piling the index, 17 moved down i ward, 11 were unchanged, and three increased. The index is the sum total of the wholesale price I per pound of each.
