Levitt and Lieutenant Ob erlln J. Evenson were married at four o'clock in the afternoon on June 7 by Chaplain Daniel W. Stevens. The First Street chapel at Fort Ord, California was the setting for the military ceremony. White gladioluses, mixed snapdragons, and candlelight formed the background for the wedding. The bride wore a gown of tra ditional white satin and carried a bouquet of white carnations. A fingertip length veil was held In place by clusters of or ange blossoms, forming a halo around the head, while a neck lace of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, accented the lace neckline of the gown. Mrs. C. F. Mlinar, of Car mel, California, was matron of honor. She wore a pink mar quisette dress and carried a ahower bouquet of pink roses and blue delphiniums. Her tn. angular head dress was of matching flowers. Best man was Lieutenant Clifford F. Mlinar. close friend of the bridegroom. Ushers were Lieutenant Harold B. They also will spend part of the summer visiting Mrs. Dunbar's mother, Mrs. Virginia Judy Esterly, in Claremont, California, plan ning to return east in the fall. After the nuptials a wedding dinner for the battalion officers and guests was served at the Officers club. Mrs. Boyce M. James cut the wedding cake af ter the first traditional piece hud h"en cut with a saber by the bride and bridegroom. Out-of-town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Willard T. Evenson of Clats kanle, Oregon, parents of the bridegroom; Justin C. Evenson and Miss Lynn Evenson of San Diego, California; Sigurd Nils sen of Eugene, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Williams of Los Angeles. He is well known for his singing ability at the Uni versity and was one of the Uni versity soloists. He Is now in the U. Baird-Wright Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Lillian Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wright, form erly of Eugene and now in Mis sissippi, to Clifford Baird, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Baird of Eugene. The wedding was an event of June 8 in Vancouver, Wash. The couple will live in Eugene. WOMEN'S Benefit Associa tion will entertain Monday night with a party for the U. S. They have lived at Brownsville for thirty-two years. They have one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn McKee han, at Brownsville, and two grandchildren, Arlene and Ev erett McKeehan. Mr. Hotchkiss is a native of Meridian, Illi nois. Mrs. Hotchkiss was born at Sacramento, Cal., being Mabel Conway before her mar riage. THE FIFTIETH wedding an niversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Shepherd was observed recent ly. They reside at 761 Washing ton street They were married in Joliet, 111., June 15, 1892. They moved from Montana to Westfir, Ore., in 1924. and came to Eugene in 1938. As if carrying on the navy theme, a telegram came at the conclusion of the party an nouncing that Mr. Henderson had received his ensign com mission that day.
