Rainbow Girls Will Hold Silver Tea; Other Grove Clubs Announce Events COTTAGE GROVE, Nov. 21 (Special) The Rainbow Glrl ' will hold a silver tea between the hours of 3 and 5 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Masonic temple. Chapter 4, O. E. S., will meet . Friday evening at the Masonic temole. Bid and Bye Dinner club will meet Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brighton Leon ard. Fraternal Order of Eagles will meet Friday evening at the Eagles hall. The Townsend auxiliary will ( hold an all-day quilting Friday at the new hall. The Neighbors of Woodcraft hold a social meeting Tuesday at the home of Mrs. J. P. Graham Mrs. Eunice Smith was assistant ' hostess. After the dessert a short business meeting was held. Bal loting was held and plans made for the N. O. W. Guards' benefit card party which will be held at the home of Mrs. Johnny Oleson, . Monday afternoon, Nov. 23. Mrs. C. J. Kern was a guest. Five tab les of bridge were in play with Mrs. T. C. Wheeler winning the prize for high score and Mrs. J. R. Sowles holding low score. The next regular meeting of the lodge will be held Dec. 3. This will be the Christmas party and there will be the annual exchange of gifts. ' Tuesday Evening Study club met In the library at the city hall. Mrs. Ralph Ward reviewed the . book "America in Mid Passage" and Mrs. S. L. Mackin gave the current event report on Neville Chamberlain. The Sunshine Circle of the Woman's Council of the Christian church met Wednesday for a cov ered dish luncheon at the home of Mrs. J. Eastham. A birthday cake honored Mrs. Willian on her 82nd birthday anniversary. The afternoon was spent in sewing for the annual church bazaar. The circle will meet next Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Marvin Drury. The Cottage Grove chapter of the F. F. A. and the Eugene chap ter of the F. F. A. held joint initiation Tuesday evening at the Union high school. Fourteen local freshmen received the greenhorn degree. The Future Farmer degree was conferred upon nine Eugene boys and 16 Cottage Grove sopho mores. Morris Buchanan is the agricultural Instructor in Eugene and Henry C. Williamson is the local agricultural teacher. After initiation a basketball game was held witli Cottage Grove winning 29 to Eugene's 17. The Handi-raft club at the Un ion' high school, under the direc tion of LeRoy Begthol, elected the following officers: President, Betty Bradford; vice-president, Bill Helliwell; secretary, Leona Hamill. Members are required to buy their own material with which to work. Projects may be chosen in leather work, metal work, lineleum blocks, cutting and plastic work. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sheary and son Ronny of Santa Jose, Cal. have arrived to spend Thanksgiving with Mrs. Sheary's parents Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Land and other relatives. (Special) The annual Rebekah convention for District No. 10 will be held at the grange hall at Elmira Satur day, starting at 10 o'clock. There will be an afternoon session be ginning at '1:30, during which sev eral parts of the work will be ex emplified by different lodges. In the evening, opening at 8:00 o'clock, there will be a special meeting of Loyal Rebekah lodge, when the state president of the Rebekah Assembly will make her official visit. Degree work will be exemplified by the Springfield lodge. Meals will be served at noon and in the evening by the Elmira grange. Services Sunday HEBRON, Nov. 21. (Special) Special services in honor of Thanksgiving Day are to be held at the Hebron church Sunday morning. There will also be spe cial music. Mr. and Mrs, Charles Fuhrer have returned from a ten day trip to Pendleton and La Grande. They report lots of snow and icy road conditions in the Blue mountains. (Spe cial) The Cascade Unit of the American Legion auxiliary met recently for its regular Business session. Mrs. Mary Jane Noland presided. Plans were discussed for a turkey dinner to be served at the hall, Thursday evening, November 28, at 6 o'clock, . This will be for members of the post and unit. Committees named were Mrs. Fred Swanson, Mrs. Noland, Mrs. Walter Blakely and Mrs. Fred Rtchter, dinner; Mrs. A. E. Bullis and Mrs. Charles Croner. entertainment. Dave Frederickson and A. E. Dumont from the post will assist with the entertainment. Plans were also discussed for a Christmas party but no definite date was set. The group voted to have the kitchen painted. Nov. 21. f.crciU The November meeting of the Triangle P.-T. A. was held recently. The resignation of the president, Mrs. Averill Rust, was accepted and the association di rected that the work be carried on for the rest of the year by the vice-president, Joseph Roner. Mrs. Clark Curry was elected to the vice-presidency. The custodian, Mr. Harper, called attention to the new parking regulation for the school grounds and emphasized them as safety measures. The superintendent, Levitt Horner, re ported on the conference for teach ers held recently in Eugene. Harry Robertson was appointed as chair man of the committee to arrange for gifts of Christmas candy to be given to the children. The program was featured by musical numbers by the students of Frances Horner, singing by the assembly, and two numbers by the Parent-Teacher quartet, Messrs. Rust, Witcraf, Craven, and Prit chard. After the program the time was spent in inspection of the progress of the builders projects in the shop. Plan Program A committee of the Parent Teachers association with Mrs. Averill Rust as chairman, is ar ranging a benefit program to raise funds for the winter work. The date of the benefit has been set for Saturday, Dec. 7, in the school auditorium. After the pro gram lunch will be sold and games and dancing will be enjoyed. All patrons, friends and parents are invited to attend. H. E. CLUB MEETS WILLAKENZIE. Nov. 21 (Spe ciaUThe Willakenzie H. Junction City Club Reports Meeting JUNCTION CITY, Nov. 81. (Special) The Junction City wo men's club met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Packard, president, pre siding. A short business session was held' at which several mat ters of interest to the club were discussed and acted on. It was voted to pay for a chest X-ray for a local school student. The Amer icanization and reed' basketry classes that had been contem plated will be postponed until aft er the first of the year. There were not enough persons interested to begin classes at this time. Mrs. Horton resigned her position as cecietary and Mrs. Marie Richard son will take her place. The Coun ty Federated club will hold its first meeting of the year in Jan uary at the grange hall with the Junction club members as host esses. The grange ladies will serve the noon luncheon. Wallace Young of Los Angeles visited ber aunt, Mrs. Lily Young over night on Monday en route to Canada, where he will enlist with the Scottish regiment for overseas service. Mr. Young has just cross ed the age limit for enlistment in the United States and is anxious to get across to do his bit for his Scotland, his ancestral home. Former Resident Killed Word has been received by friends of a tragic accident in Fresno, Cal., when S. V. Olsen, a former resident of Junction City v as killed in an auto accident. Mr. Olsen was a merchant here and about nine years ago disused of his business and returned to Fres no his former home.
