Billard. county clerk, from the state board of forestry at Salem. The tax in the western forests of Lane will be 4.6 cents an acre and that in the eastern part, 2.6 cents an acre, the clerk was in formed. W Far visible fires and explosions, even greater than those that devastated Coventry a week ago, were left raging in Birmingham, Britain's second city, by night-long relays of fighting planes which dropped more than 1.000,000 pounds of bombs, the high command said to day. Five hundred planes dumped bombs, some of them of the great est size, hour by hour on the ar mament and supply industries of Birmingham, informed miltary sources said. This condition has caused other hazards, the court was told. Employes of several industrial plants, including the new plywood mill, have used the street as parking place for their ears, the court was told. County Judge Clinton Hurd suggests that the mills provide parking space for the cars of employes. the county and is collected at the time other property tax is due. Phone 861 Mr. Theodore Bear, Inventor Of Teddy, Dies In Chicago CHICAGO, Nov. 21 OP) Theo dore Bear, 76, who introduced the teddy bear and gave it his own name, died yesterday at his home. The manufacturer of toy bears and children's apparel in Chicago for 35 years was a member of the firm of Bear brothers, ori ginally established In Cincinnati. Bear's only son, Walter, said his father introduced the toy about 1905 and gave it the name and trademark he had popularized on earlier products, baby coaches and clothing. The toy. bear bore tag with the body of a bear and the portrait of Bear as tm face. Across the body was Bear's signature and the phrase, "The Original Teddy."
