Eugene To Parricioare In Coryallis Corn Show The Eugene schools will be represented at the Oregon State corn show Saturday at Corvallis, when a corn judging team from the high school agricultural de partment will compete with other valley high school teams, accord ing to M. C. Buchanan, agricul tural instructor. Members of the team selected yesterday are Leon ard Halderson, Harold Coe. and Bert Denham, with Frank Jordan, alternate. Two members of the Eugene chapter have exhibits in the F.F.A. department of the corn show. Bert Denham and Joe Harrison each have a 10-ear exhibit of Wiscon sin 90-day hybrid field corn which they selected from their corn pro jects, carried as part of their vo cational agriculture work in the school. ' Fager Arrested On Charge Of Larceny John Fager is in the county jail, booked on a charge of larceny from a person. He was arrested late Wednesday by city police and taken before Justice of the Peace John Bryson. He will be given a hearing Friday at 1:30 p. m. He was placed under $2500 bail. Fager is accused of theft from a man here last May. A warrant was issued at that time, but until recently he had been out of the city. HATS On Sale Now! W Brit ain's war expenditures have drop ped to a daily average of 9,500,000 pounds ($38,000,000) last week against an average of 12,000.000 pounds ($48,000,000) the previous two weeks, exchequer figures have disclosed. - The report showed a deficit of $47,775,074 pounds ($191,100,296) for the week of all government ex penses with revenue of only $19,- 844.048 pounds ($79,376,192) against expenditures of 67,619,122 pounds ($270,476,488); Future Farmers Active At Cottage Grove Members of the Eugene Future Farmers of America chapter put on the Future Farmer initiation in Cottage Grove Tuesday night for 24 boys of the Cottage Grove and F.ugene chapters. Following the initiation, refreshments of cookies and cider were served. A basketball game played between the two chapter teams found Cot tage Grove the winner. The annual parent and son ban quet for the local chapter was held Wednesday evening. Harry Thienes was chairman of the ban quet committee; Wildlife Federation To Protect Fowl COTTAGE GROVE, Nov. 21. (Special) John Wilson. N. J. Nel son, Vinal Randall, Robert Dren ner, Joe T. Smith and George Mathews attended the Lane county unit of the-Wildlife Federation at the Del Rey cafe in Eugene Tues day" evening. Local sportsmen arc planning to adopt a project de signed to foster and protect the migratory water fowl, under the project it is proposed to build a network of smaller dams near the flood control dams for the propa gation of wild ducks and geese. Sportsmen plan a project which will care for 10,000 ducks and geese. who may have been missed in the first batch of 350,000 forms will start this week in every part of the state. Sam Crawford Band At Park Saturday Sam Crawford, composer and band leader, is bringing his 16 piece band to Willamette park for one night only this coming Satur day night. An eastern band, little known on the coast, but well known in the east and middle west. Sam has brought his band to the coast for the winter. Stratford will be held from the Schwering chapel at Creswell Fri day at 1 a. m. Mrs. C. L. Camp will officiate. Interment will be in the Creswell cemetery.
