I Spe cial) Several farmers are putting in new irrigation systems this summer, R E. Severy, Phillips Bro. and E. O. Kunk are using the flood system. V. K. Pwyre the sprinkler system. E. O. Kunk lias used the flood system for Keren years to irrigate pasture and potatoes. Mrs. Hazel Pippen of Portland is visiting at the home of Mrs. Flossy Huntington. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Williams of Gold Beach, Ore., returned home to day after several days visit with her mother, Mrs. Lettie Phillips, also at tending the funeral of her uncle, Will ard Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gentry and family of Washington are visiting at the boma of his aister, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Haring. Cecil Killingbeck Is helping Ernest Funk with bis baying. Miss Pearl Keeney of Drain is stay ing with Mrs. Herbert Henderson as sisting with the house work. Elmer Jobnson and A. O. Jackson and Geo. Shroeder are threshing bent grass this week. Several more farm ers will be ready by next week. Edna Funk is spending several days at tbe home of Mrs. Edith Watrous in Florence. She will attend Bible school classes while there. Miss Bernice Murray of Florence has returned home after a week visit with Doris Morrison. D. E. Severy was a Eugene visitor last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John Gentry of Brook ings, Ore. have taken up permanent residence on the North Fork. Liquid air can cause curious ef fects. These will include Puer to Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Alaska. Reproduction of a painting de picting signing of the treaty of March 30. 1867, under which the United Slates paid Russia $7,200, 000 for Alaska, is favored for the Alaskan design. The Puerto Ri ca n stamp may feature a view of I San Juan harbor. Design for the Virgin Islands stamp is so far not hinted. ... Important new foreign Issues include a series of nine stamps is sued in Egypt in honor of the new I king. Farouk.
