Goodlander were held Saturday in Salem with, interment in Twin Oak cemetery at Turner. He died Thursday in a Salem hospital. Goodlander was born m 1872 at Deerfleld, Iowa, the son. of Mr. and Mrs. Henery Goodlander. In 1894 he went to live with a sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. James' Mcintosh, of Selah, Wash. On Aug. 19, 1902, he was mar ried to Fanny Banta. The couple mad their home near Yakima un til 1939, when they bought the farm in the Cloverdala community where they had lived continuously since that time. ' In 19 IS a baby girl, Evelyn, was adopted. In addition Goodlander had two step-sons, both of whom survive. . v Goodlander has been a member of the Christian church for the past 44 years,-and was active in the Turner church. Survivors are his widow. Tur ner; daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Han- shaw, Yakima; step-sons, Donald Banta, Seattle, and Glen Banta of Selah, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. This week saw 39 new members . initiated into the Salem Hlfh School Girls' Letter club, first la a Quiet formal ceremony above, and then later in a fan and frolic initiation. The club is open to girls who have fath ered a certain number of points awarded for participation in - aport, social and service activ ities. Additional points srsrner eL by the girls dnrint their school years rive them the hon or, of having their own letter sweater, white with a red letter, and with traditional arm stripes for years of service. Gilbert, 80, Albany resident for 47 years, died in the Albany General hos pital Oct 18, following an Illness of several weeks. Services will be held from the Fisher Funeral home at S ajn. Monday. Paul Gil bert, nephew of the deceased, will officiate. Burial will b in the Masonic cemetery. Gilbert was born in Marceline, Mo on Oetoher 22. 1870. and hart I he lived until Mondav would have celebrated his 81st birthday. From Missouri he moved to Idaho, and while there married Perena Ham ilton. In 1904 Mr. and Mrs. Gil bert came to Albany to make their home. With his brother. P. D. Gilbert. he established a grocery store. Af ter selling it, the brothers in part nership with another brother, Jo seph, started a grocery, furniture and hardware store, this being the first store in the Knights of Pyth ias Duuaing. m 1922 the brothers sold the store. Surviving are threo daughters. Surviving charter members will b honored. It was anniversary on the last Saturday voted to return to the 7 pjn. hous for the covered dish supper which preceded the regular convocation. Pomona Grange meeting will be held here Saturday. A contest, planned to stimulate 4-H i club work in this area by offering a trophy for the -Best Club-; will be judged -soon with Wilmer Pow ell and Eric Swenson as judges assisting Director Jack Evey. They have been dividing their time amongst their children and grandchildren in Minmouth, Salem, and Tacoma. This was a combined business and pleasure trip as they want to sell their small farm her before returning to Wyoming.
