For Wednesday afternoon is th 12 o'clock buffet luncheon for which the supreme court justices wives will be hostesses at the North Summer street home of Chief Justice and Mrs. James T. Brand. The affair will honor the wives oneg ' Islators and special guests will be Mrs. Douglas McKay and Mrs. Earl T. Newbry. Arrangements of gpring blooms will provide the decorative note. Mrs. Brand will greet the guests and receiving with her in the liv ing room will be Mrs. George Bossman and Mrs. Earl Latourette. Mrs. Harold Warner will preside at the coffee urn and assisting in the dining room will be Mrs. Ar thur Hay, Mrs. Hall Lusk and Mrs. Walter Tooze Pattersons U Entertain President of the Senate Paul L. Patterson and Mrs. Patterson will entertain with an at home on Wed nesday night In the Capital room of the Senator hotel between 5 and 7 o'clock. The affair will compli ment members of the senate and their wives, the board of control and their wives, members of the Washington county delegation and the legislative press and their wives. Assisting the hosts in receiv ing and about the room will b Senator and Mrs. Dean H. Walk er. Senator and Mrs. Eugene Marsh, Senator and Mrs. Philip S, - Hitchcock and Senator and Mrs Thomas R. Mahoney. iTwn and Gown Tea Town and Gown club members will entertain with their legisla tive tea on Thursday afternoon at Lausanne hall with calling hours between 3 and 5 o'clock. This is a biennial affair and one of the lar gest events given during the leg lslative session for the out-of town women. Mrs. William L. M Page, Carl Chambers and Miss Lorena Jack, i Woman's Clnb Tea Meeting Salem Woman's club members have sent out invitations to their club meeting and tea on Friday afternoon in honor of wives of leg islators and wives of the supreme court justices. Hours are from two to five o'clock. The guest speaker will be C eorge Root, jr., Portland, interior decor ator, whose subject is "What's Happening to Home Decoration, end Why?" Mr. Root was born in Portland and is a graduate of the University of Oregon and received his master's degree at Columbia university. He also did graduate work at UCLA. For two of the war years, ha supervised art for the Southern California school system in the Imperial Valley, then entered the decorating and design field in the Los Angeles area. He came to Portland to visit his parents for a vacation two years ago, and has been decorating for Portlanders ever since. He opened his own studio In Portland last spring, featuring or iginal-designed and hand-blocked fabrics, as well as fine furniture and outstanding decorative acces sories. Mrs. Ross Coppick, chairman of the art department, .will intro duce the speaker. For the music, Dean Melvin Geist will sing, ac companied by Mrs. Geist. There will be a short business meeting with Mrs. Howard Hunsaker pre siding. The hour has been ad vanced due to the' Portland Sym phony concert here that night Guest speaker will be miss Dor othea Lensch, director of recrea tion for the Bureau of Parks and Public Recreation for the city of Portland. Miss Lensch is a mem ber of the national recreation pol icies commission, chairman of the committee on recreation for the governors' committee on Children and Youth, a board member of the Portland Civic theatre, a member of the Camp Fire Girls board, and has held various ; offices in the American Association of Health, Physical Education and Recrea tion. She represented Oregon at the mid-century White House con ference on Children and Youth in Washington, D. C in December. Students from the vocal music department of Parrish Junior high school will sing. The Treble Triad will sing "Smoke Gets In Your EyesT and The Wiff enpoof Song' and the Parrish Twelve will sing "I've Got Plenty of Nothing " To gether they will sing "The Lord's Prayer."
