A one - thirty o'clock luncheon was served to the following members: Mrs. John Ackerman, Mrs. Robert Pickerel, Mrs. LeRoy Barker Mrs. Ernest Barker, Mrs. Robert Fromm, Mrs. Leonard Malm, Mrs, Fred Scharf, Mrs. Covil Case, Mrs. Carl Sny der, Mrs. Henry Sprlck, Mrs. Earl Malm. Mrs. Anna Jess, Mrs. Clyde Colwell, Mrs. J. Irvin Wagers, Mrs. Albert Fabry, and Mrs. Vicar Wagers. Mrs. J. Balzer was a guest. i. Community Work Done by Girls The Salem District Girl Scout and Brownie troops have been busy the past months doing com munity service. Brownie troop No. 91, led by Mrs. Edwin Keech. assisted by Mrs. Edgar Morris, Brownie troop No. 32, led by Mrs. G. R. Boat wright -assisted by Mrs. Joe Zajic, Brownie troop 12, led by Mrs. mi liar d Hansen, Brownie troop 63, led by Mrs. Sherman Burris as sisted by Mrs. Fred Freier, have given boxes of toys donated by the Brownies, and individually wrap ped as Christmas presents to the children of the Fairview Home. Brownie troop No. 58 led by Mrs. P. V. Bohnstedt, painted boxes of toys for the Salvation Army. Brownie troop No. 95 led by Mrs. Elmer Amundson have made two scrap books for the children at the Salem Memorial hospital. . Brownie troop No. 10 Jed by Mrs. Francis Jernigan, assisted by Mrs. Lei and Mackprang are caring for a family of four with food and clothing, through the Salvation Army. Brownie troop No. 28, Mrs. M. A. Meier leader, assisted by Mrs. Sydney Van Lydergxaf are assist ing several families. Brownie troop 12, and Scout troop 49 led by Mrs. Marion West will make all the tray favors for the holidays during 1949 for the patients at the Salem Memorial hospital. New Leaders Are Invested Eleven new leaders were In vested into the Salem District Girl Scout Leaders club, at the regular meeting at the First Congregation al church Tuesday night. Mrs. Gertrude Ayres, Salem district Girl Scout training chairman, and Miss Dorothy Wilson, Girl Scout field worker, conducted the in vesture service. Those invested were, Mrs. Hilliard Hanson, Mrs. Joe Zojic, Mrs. Sidney De Lyder graf, Mrs. Raymond Stringham, Mrs. Roy Adamson, Mrs. P. V. Bohnstedt, Mrs. M. A. Meier, Mrs. Marion West, Mrs. Elmer Amund son, Mrs. B. J. Kerr and Mrs. Sherman Burris. Mrs. John R. Wood was elected president of the Leaders club. It was announced at the meet ing that Mrs. Warren Klug will be the financial advisor for the Salem District Girl Scout associa tion for 1949. Mrs. Clyde Johnson will be the assistant advisor. Mrs. Klug will be chairman of the Girl Scout cookie sale which will be held in February. Joint Installation Is Scheduled WOODBURN Joint installation of newly elected officers of Ever green chapter, Order of the East ern Star and Woodburn lodge. A. F. it A. M., will be held December 27 following the regular meeting of Eastern Star. Mr. and Mrs. Ora F. Morris of Hubbard will be in stalled as worthy patron and worthy matron. Arthur M. Burt is the worshipful master of the Masons to be installed. Other elective officers of the Eastern Star to be installed are Mrs. R. E. Harper, associate ma tron; Earl C. Houseweart, associate patron; Mrs. J. W. Richards, re elected secretary for the 38th year; airs. K. Anderson, treasurer; Mrs. Harlow Dixon, conductress; Mrs. Arthur Burt, associate con ductress; and Mrs. H. F. Butter- field, trustee. Masonic elective officers to be installed are Norman A. Reiling, senior warden; George D. Jones, junior warden; F. G. Evenden, treasurer; Frank F. Proctor, secre tary; and Jess Fikan, trustee. Appointive officers to be In stalled will be announced later. Mrs. Jess Fikan, past worthy ma tron, will be installing officer for the staE, and Ray Shaner, past worshipful master, for the lodge. BPW Tea on Sunday The Salem Business and Pro fessional Women's club entertained with a Christmas tea on Sunday afternoon at the North 15th street home of Misses Effie and Ida May Smith. Members and friends call ed between 3 and 5 o'clock. Mrs. A. J. Arehart and Miss Dorothy Cornelius greeted guests at the door. The hostesses introduced to the line which included Mrs. Charles Forrette. president of the club: Mrs. Arthur Weddle, state presi dent; and Mrs. Byron Herrick, pat state president. Presiding at the urns were Miss Grace Taylor and Miss Mirpah Blair, charter members and past presidents, Mrs. John Versteeg, first vice president, and Miss Al berta Shoemake, second vice presi dent. Inviting guests to the dining room were Miss Ruth Moore, Miss Edna McElhaney and Mrs. E. A. Tueski. Assisting were Miss Minnie Just, Miss Geraldine Gardner, Miss Doris Nelson, Mrs. William J. Lin foot, Mrs. Maude Eckman. Mrs. Donald Muelhaupt and Miss Max ine Herringer. During the afternoon duet num bers were given by Mrs. Louis Neuman and Mrs. W. H. Fisher, accompanied by Miss Irene Jes sup. Miss Bonnie Litchenberg gave violin solos, accompanied by Miss Joyce Edgell and Miss Edna Hill played a group of piano selections. Mrs. K. N. Voorhees and Miss Josephine C. Evans were co-chairmen of the tea with the recrea tion committee in charge. Pre-Qance Parties Several pre-dance parties are being arranged by hostesses before the Rainbow formal dance on Wednesday night at the Armory. Miss Nancy Snyder and Miss Eva McMullen have invited a group of their friends to the coun try home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. D. McMullen, pre ceding the dance with guests bid den to call between 8 and 9 o'clock. Miss Thais Crandall will enter tain with a coke party before the dance at the Fairmount hill home of her parents, the Bruce C r a n - dalls. Fifty of the high school set will call between 8 and 9 o'clock. Miss Shlrlee Newbry, daughter of Secretary 'of State and Mrs. Earl Newbry, will be a pre-dance hostess at the East Rural avenue home of her parents. Her high school friends have been bidden to call between 8:15 and 9:15 o'clock. Also entertaining before the for mal dance will be Miss Sharon Hamilton, daughter of the Ralph Mammons, who has invited a group of her friends to the Fair mount Hill home of her parents.
