Acliievement Tests Given Roberts Pupils ROBERTS Achievement tests have been given this week In Roberts school by Mrs. Bina Stages, upper grade teacher. These go later to the county school of fice and then to the state de partment of education. Audiometer tests were the sub- Iect of a talk by Lenore Headley, larion county health educator, at Mothers club meeting Friday when the Halls Ferry club met with the Roberts group. The audio meter tests will be given here March 25 by Mrs. May ot the ctate department. Georgia Ann Johnson, daugh ter of the George Johnsons, Is In the Salem General hospital for an operation. Her brother, Don ald, student at Leslie junior high, was also at the same hospital for urgery. Georgia Ann is in the eventh grade at Roberts. Jerry Keuscher is a new pupil Jn the eighth grade at Roberts school. The Keuscher family re cently purchased the greenhouse south of the railroad tracks at Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Papenfus re cently adopted their niece, Lois, who is enrolled in the third grade at school. Candidates for the first and sec ond degrees in the grange were given to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bragg, Mrs. Paul Marsh, Mrs. Leonard Lester, Germaine Eyerly and , Floyd Plank Friday night at the : Keizer grange hall. Other Rob- erts grange members attending ; were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schueble, Elmer Minch, Mrs. Floyd Plank, Mrs. Charles Fulton and Mrs. Chet Nelson. was shown in Rosedale school this week by Ed Lewis of Salem. Mrs. Lesta Bates substituted two days for Mrs. Berchen Cald well last week whose father, Gus Cole, died. Max Sunderland and Arnold Baunann have returned from, the naval reserve cruise. Sidney School Adds New Room JEFFERSON The Sidney 4-H cooking clubs 1, 2 and 3, led by Donna Wiederkehr, met Wednes day at Wayne Johnstons. Mem bers checked on each other's work, and Miss Wiederkehr led in the absence of the president, Jeanette Giknour. The club will meet next Tuesday at Wiederkehrs. Others present were Verlon Lott, Kenneth Monson, Robert and Donald Pall ett, John Todd. A new class room has been added to the east side of Sidney school to accommodate the in creased enrollment and is occupied by the primary class taught by Mrs. Ethel Sohn of Independence. Mrs. Violet Hooker of Salem teaches the upper grades. Surprising Mrs. Louise John ston of Sidney on her birthday were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Englehorn of Salem and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Jones of Sidney. Two birthday cakes featured the occasion. Mrs. Englehorn is Mrs. Johnston's stepdaughter. He Is working in Roseburg and Mrs. Weed and the three children will go to Grants Pass next week to be with relatives until a house is available in Roseburg.
