Look at a Vogue of last spring and see, and gasp. Shsh. t pish us I . . There's something strangely subversive about the way the weatherman has been acting lately, and we think he bears investigation. Even good old reliable rainy Oregon weather can't be de pended upon. Now you know, no well man nered American weatherman would do the things that have been done this year. We bet he's a Red. Alpha and Omega . . . Looking over a group of women wearing hats last week, we came to the conclusion that there is no middle of the road in women's chapeaux, they are either completely dizzy or dis gust. ngly uninteresting. Times has changed ... It used to be, when we smelled the paper mill it was go.n? to rain. Nov when we smell the paper mill its so smoky we can't tell if its rain ing or not Chambers oi Commerce please note . . . We hope our millions of readers' up and down the coasjt will take notice of this, our thought provoking statement for the day. A simple and effective way to put small towns in the public eye would be to see that at least one building has the town's name atop it for the edification of the fly ing public. When we travel by air (and it's not half often enough) we want to see the scenery and note the towns under us. Not one In a dozen Is identifiable from the air by the lay flyer. Including Salem. Fall t!lt . . . Looking at the General Federation Clubwoman, a national maga zine for members of the Women's clubs, we find a story titled "Let's See America and Meet in Portland" and it suggests see ing America enroute to the National Con vention in May in Portland. There are photos of Banff. Lake Louise, Grand Can yon. Mormon Temple, Canadian Rockies, California's coast. California's mountains, California's Yosemite Falls. We wonder it they know that Oregon has Wallowa Lake, Oregon has some mighty nice mountains, Oregon has a coast, Oregon has Crater lake and Oregon has some falls. Furthermore, Oregon's falls have water in them, unlike Yosemite when we saw it a few years ago. And this brings us to wondering if Yosemite will be turned on even for the National Federation of Women's club's special toui this year. Silver Creek falls and Multnomah will be we bet. Speaking of Falls . . . That feather in our new spring bonnet will be our undoing yet. It whisks along the top of our little car as we drive and last Sunday as we stopped to pick up something we dropped in cKurch, it fell completely off. What do nice average sized women da with hats with tall feathers? Maybe they are used to having something above their ears . . . If Yo-yoe come . . . can spring be far behind? . . .
