Mott will ded icate Mott Basin, Tongue Point naval station anchorage oji Wed nesday afternoon at a ceremony which will be broadcast on the major networks at 2:30 o"clock in Astoria. Mrs. Mott, fier family and spe cial guests will be honored at a dinner given by Captain E. B. "Baird. commander of Tongue Point naval base, on Tuesday night. Betrothal Revealed Announcement is being mad this weekend-of the engagement of Ms Jean Hazelton, daughter of Mrs. Lucy R. Hazel tori, to Robert B. Loomis. son of Mi-, and Mrs. R. E. Loomis of Forest Grove. Miss Hazelton attended Salem schools and is now employed as a stenographer in the Ladd and Bush Salem Branch, United States National Bank. Mr. Loom is attended Portland schools nod is a student at Pacific university. He spent 44 months in the South Pacific with the 4 Ht divis ion and at the time of his dis- f A '1 w V'- Miss Mary Kathryn Finntey, above, whoso betrothal to Stu art H. ComRton was refcently revealed at the Slqrma Kap pa house on the Oregon Slate college campus. Miss Finney is the daughter of Mr. and; Mrs. W. S. Finney of Hood River and her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry V Compton of Salem. No plans have jbeen made for the wedding. The bride-elect is a graduate of Hood River high school, where she received the DAR pilgrimage award. She is now attending Oregon State college and is a member.of Sigma Kappa. Mr. Compton frs a graduate of Salem high 'school and is now taking his navy reserve officers training at Oregon State college. He plans to- take Jaw at Willamette "University r.ext year. The young navy man served a year in-the 'South Pacific. " North Seetion of the Women's Guild of the First Congregation al church will meet in the church parlors Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock. Mrs. George Durham and Mrs. C. P. Richards will be hostesses. Salem Junior Woman's club will hold an important business meeting Monday night at the clubhouse at 8 o'clock. The board meeting will precede at 7 o' clock with Mrs. Fred Gast pre siding. Chapter AB, PEO will meet Monday night at 7:45 o'clock with Mrs. Roy R. Hewitt at 630 N. Commercial st.
