'W ; Browns Will Renew Vows At Rites Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brown will renew their wedding vows at a golden wedding ceremony at the Vet Salem Methodist church this afternoon at four o'clock. Rev. Claude A. Brown of Vancouver. Washington, will officiate; Mis. Katherine Peavy, Salinai, Cal. will play the wed ding music and Carl Brown will accompany on the violin. The altar will be banked with bakel. of purple iris and Jap ner loses flanked with candle abras. The tapers will be lighted by the ushers, Phil Hathaway of Champoeg, and Fred Fischer, Eu gene. Carleton Brown will sing "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly." Mrs. Brown will walk down the aisle on the arm of her son, Robert. She will wear a gowh of white lace and will carry a lace handkerchief which she carried when married 50 years ago. Her bouquet will be talisman roses. Mrs. RacheL Fischer, Eugene, will be her mother's bridesmaid. She will wear a gown of c gold crepe and will carry a nosegay of spring flowers. Grandchildren Claudie and Artie Brown, will be flower girl and ring bearer. Ross Brown will stand with his father as best man. Reception Follows The wedding reception will be held in the church basement im mediately after the rites. Mrs. William Moss will preside at the punch bowl, Mrs. Carl Anderson will assist, and Mrs. Carleton Brown will cut the cake. Serving will be Mrs. Elmer Ri etson. Mrs. Claude Brown and Mrs. Leo Estey. Mrs. Phil Hath away will pass the guest book. The couple was married at Mc Cook, Nebraska, at the home of the bride's parents. They came' to Oregon the folfowing year, bringing their household goods on the Old Oregon trail. They settled In Coos county, where they remained until coming to Salem in 1935. Mr; Brown was a grange dep uty until his retirement a few years ago. All their children and families will be here to help celebrate the anniversary. Their sons and daughters are O. C. Brown of West Salem, Mrs. Fred Fischer, Eugene, Ross Brown, Centerville, Calif., Mrs. Katherine Peavy, Salinas, the Rev. Claud Brown, Vancouver, Wash., and Robert Brown also West Salem. There are nine grandchildren. Friends are invited to the cer emony. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Burgard Kugel are spending .the Easter weekend with Mrs. Kugel's daughter, Mrs. M. R. Wilkinson in Portland. Beverly Mott. daughter of Mrs. James W. Mott, who has been at tending St. Mary's in Portland, will enroll at Mt. Angel Acade my for spring term. Drand Mrs. Ralph E. "Big Doorstep" Under Production Daily rehearsals are now be ing held for the senior class pjay, -The Great Big Doorstep," to be given April 26, at the high school auditorium at 8:15 p. m. Re served seat tickets go on sale next Tuesday at the high school. The cast directed by Miss Mar garet Burroughs, is headed by the Commodore and Mrs. Cro chet, a southern couple with a Cajun dialect. Jim Baer plays the part of the commodore and the wife is played by Jean Mit ehell. The Crochets live in Grass Margin, Louisiana, in a broken down shack on which they have nailed an elaborate doorstep, sal vaged from the Mississippi riv er. The Commodore spends most fo his time loafing on the door step, although he claims ta be a "ditching engineer," his glorified term for a ditch digger. Mrs. Crochet, the Commodore's wife, Is the backbone of the family and the exact opposite of her husband. They have six children all of whom have their numer- i I ous problems to be solved, main ly by Mrs. Crochet The stage setting is under the supervision of D. A. Ranrudell, stagecraft adviser, and the set has been designed by Dale Clea ver. -The setting includes the shack, which has been built by the Stagecraft club out of old lumber from a barn. A huge can vas backdrop, producing an at mosphere of a swamp, has been sewed together by the sewing clasVes of the high school. Stu dents from the art department ate painting the curtain with a suitable swampland scene. Miss Lillian Davis, senior t las adviser, is stipe' viing the en tire production. Federation Meeting Semi-annual spring meeting of the Marion county Federation of Women's clubs will be held in Stayton at the Woman's club house on Friday. April 28. Dele gates will register at 9:30 a. m , with the session opening at ten o'clock. The program will ronsit of committee reports and resumes of the year's activities by each club president. The main address will be given by David yames Ferguson, DD, recently an army chaplain and an Oregon delegate to the United National confer ence in San Francisco. W. B. Schnebly, superintendent of the Children's Farm Home will give a talk, and show pictures. Music will be provided by a growp of the Stayton high school. Mrs. Donald E.
