Gounod, Adams, Handel, Rinuky - Korsakov and others will be represented. Several out standing artists and conductors are listed to perform today. The Stradivari orchestra, play ing over ABC at 9:30 this morn ing will include the works of ' Tchaikowski. Bizet, Mascagni, Greig and Schubert. At 11 on the "Harvest of Stars program will be heard the Lyn Murray chorus singing ''Unfold Ye Portals" by Gounod. "'Rus sian Easter Overture" by Rim-sky-Koreakov; a spiritual, "Were You There," "The Crucifix" by Faure and "The Hold City- will be sung by Jan Peerce. tenor. At 2 o'clock. General Motors symphony orchestra, under the direction of Franco Autoii. will play Boyce's first ayrnphony, -Gymnopedie" No. 1 by Satie, "Don Juan" by Straus-, 'Gold and Silver Waltz" by Lchar and fain, the "Russian Easter Over ture." Eugene Goosens will conduct the Ford orchestra and chorus, assisted by Eleanor Steber, so prano, Charles Kullman, tenor, In a concert including opening chorus from Smetana's "Bartered Bride." "Solemn Melody" by Da vies. "Onaway, Awake Beloved" from "Hiawatha's Wedding Feast" by Coleridge-Taylor, waltz song from "Romeo and Ju liet" by Gounod, chorus of Gib Jchungs, from "Goetterdaemmer nng" by Wagner, the finale from act I of "Madame Butterfly" by Puccini, "The Bells," Byrd. C Teu ton's 23d Psalm," "The Holy City" by Adams, prelude and march from "Le Coq d'Or". Rim ky Korsakov, and th Halle lujah Chcrus" from "The Mes aiah" by Handel. The "American Album of Fa miliar Muic" on NBC at 6:30 will include an all-Easter pro gram sung by Dona Id Dame, Margaret Damn. Jean Dicken son and Evelyn McGregor. The Buckingham choir will asit and Gustave Haenschen's orchestra will play. Monday's programs of special merit include the Firestone hour at 5:30 on NBC. when Stella Ro man, scprano and Igi Gorin will sing and the orchestra will be directed by Howard Barlow, Miss Roman will king "V'issi d'Arte" from "Tosca" by Puc cini; Gorin wil sing "Water Boy" by Robinson: together they will sing "You Are Free" by Ja cabi and "Wanting You." - At-fl o'clock, Robert Cassade sus will be piano soloist with the Bell symphony orchestra under Donald Voorhees playing "Cor doba" by Albenij; selections from "Concerto in E flat major" by Liszt. Easter Breakfast At Simmons' ': Miss Darlene Simmons will be hostess this morning at a 9 o' clock breakfast at her home on Trade street. Skaters Will Meet for Party Invitations have been issued for a no-host skating party at the Capitola rink, for Tuesday night at S p. m. Invited are for mer members of the various skating clubs of Salem which were active before the war. Many of the skaters have been recent ly discharged from the service, and this will give them an op portunity to meet and skate with former friends. It is planned to make this the first of a series of monthly get togethers for skate fans. Navy Mothers Dinner Slated The Salem Navy mothers will entertain with a covered dish dinner at the YWCA Tuesday night at 6:30 o'clock. All navy parents are invited to attend. Speakers for the evening will be Chief Yeoman Robert W. Palmer of Portland, who was a prisoner of war, and Chief Yeo man Robert Pary of Portland, who served in "the submarine service during the war. Helen Ward Plays Character Role The spice of the play "Family Portrait," to be given by the'Wil lamette drama students as part of the May weekend festivities, is the role of Mary Cleophas, played by Helen Snell Ward. A picture of the family".pf. Jesus, this play will be given at the Salem high school auditorium Friday, May 3. at 8 p. m. In this character role, Miss Ward p'Ttrays a middle aged woman who is the sister of Mary, mother of Jesus, and also a friend and admirer of the family. The part shows a deep insight into human nature, and pictures an affable, shrewd, and witty wo man, giving a wide scope for characterization.
