WOODBLRN The Fast Ma trons' club of Evergreen chapter No. 41, Order of Eastern Star, met Thursday in the social rooms at the Masonic temple. Mrs. Hazel Enos, president, called the meeting to order to perfect plans -for the serving of the annual Eastern Star election night sup per, December 8 meeting. This is a long established cus tom of the Past Matrons, and the plans are promising despite ra tioning difficulties. The presi dent appointed the following committees for the evening: Kitchen commit tee, Gertrude Beach, chairman. Pearl Lansden, Eleanor Vickers, Mary Smith; dining room, committee, Beulah Gilbert, chairman, Martha Reil ing, Florence Butterfield, Minnie : Richards; clean-up : committee, all past matrons. Tentative plans are looking to ward installation in late Decem ber. These will be completed at the next meeting of the Past Matrons. During the evening the women ; hemmed dish towels for the Ma- j sons and Eastern Star and also i made and filled seven fracture pillows for the Red - Cross. Re- : freshments were served. Pratt Lieutenant Jerome Pratt will be the guest speaker at the No vember meeting, of the Salem Business and Professional Wom an's club Tuesday night at the Golden Pheasant at 6:30 o'clock. Lt Pratt is with the 1311th signal pigeon company at the Sa lem air base and will talk on homing pigeons and the use of pigeons in the war. Miss Mabel Elizabeth Fox will give a group of readings. The monthly meeting of the executive board was held Friday night at the home of the president, Miss Dorothy Cornelius. Miss Cornelius will entertain at tea on Sunday afternoon, De cember 12 at the home of Judge and Mrs. Percy Kelly, 292 South 17th street for club members and prospective members. Kaufman titled "First Lady." -This is a story of Washington, DC politics, and Miss Reeher has the part of an influential club woman who backs a presidential candidate.
