They would cut down and sell timber from their claims while they were on them, and they were there no more than enough for appear ances. The government agents discov ered the trick, consequently the settlers who came and dd the right thing got the land. They will keep It, too. Right here let me say that government agents, to my certain knowledge, are never In structed to work injustice to any set tler, and I know that the officers of the i land office In Portland are inclined al ways to favor the homesteader.
