Tha need of a receiver for the corpo ration, say the Insurance officials who are worKlng up tne sensational case, imperative, as tha protection of 'the eourts is all that will prevent the aliena tion of any Spring Valley property which might become available to meet those claims which might later receive favorable consideration. Nearly 40 claims have been taken. 66 intense was the excitement last week that claims were being located by lan tern light, and some were Jumped. A Seattle man who located claims some, weeks ago, has employed a force ox practical miners. The holdings win be worked thoroughly this winter and a reduction plant installed in the spring. A quantity of, -the ore Is free milling. Dan Shaner. an old timer of , this county, has located a number of claims In the new district and knows every foot of the ground. YAKIMA FOWLS BRING S14 E AC (Special Dlapatcb to Tbe JoornuM North Taklma. Wash., Nov. 26. Dr. L. D. Green of this city has sold some of his chickens, and the transaction probably holds the record for the northwest. Dr. Green sold 48 fowls and received for them 1667.60. The fowls were single comb White Leghorns and Houdans. AH were bred by Dr. Green on his ranch In this city and were, or are, as perfect specimens ow their kind as ever have been seen here. The Houdans were pure black and white, and absolutely free from th objectionable plum color so difficult to overcome. Dr. Green's thoroughbred eggs were bought up at the rate of $6 for IS this year while they lasted. Dr. Green Is interested in a new va riety of chicken which he will display at the annual show of the Taklma Poultry association in January. xnia ia a. cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Houdan. Senator Flint of California announced today after a conference with, tha president that he would take no part in a movement to keep the battleship fleet In the Pacific waters. The senator said: "The president's aim was to send the fleet around the world. It Is now on its way home. No reason has arisen whv the Journey should not be com pleted." Navy officers throughout tha.. country who are . on shore duty are conditioning themselves for the endurance test an nounced by the navy department yes terday. All officers of tha Una below tha rank of rear admiral, and all offi cers of the staff below tha rank of captain, on shore service, will be com polled to undergo a three days' walking test of 60 miles, Navy officers afloat will probably have to face an endurance test of re maining on duty in four-hour watches alternately for 72 hours. This has not yet been definitely decided by the chiefs of tne department. Failure to pass the tests will be con sidered sufficient cause for the Issuance of an order to the delinquent officer to face the navy retiring board.
