It Is believed that not a few boats . now operating out of this port on the ! Willamette and Columbia rivers will i be sent around to Puget sound next year to participate in the harvest of Columbia Digger Company Sends First Load to Swift Plant. Work on the construction of the foundation for the immense Swift pack ing plant on the peninsula has practi cally begun in that the first bargeload of grave for the concrete was deliv ered there yesterday by the steamer Poloma of the Columbia Digger com pany. The Columbia Digger company has the contract for furnishing a large quantity of gravel that will be re- ?ulred In the laying of the foundations or the numerous buildings that are to form tho packing establishment and bargeload- after bargeload will be sent there as requirements demand.
