LAND BOARD APPROVES LOANS TO $46,625 (Saleffi B'irena of The Journal.) Salem Or., Sept. 24. Applications for loans amounting to $46,626 were ap proed by the land board yesterday. At the first of the month - similar amount was' approved making the total for Sep tember over $90,000. The number of applications during; the last few weeks has Increased heavily and the land board was compelled to rmliire each individual loan below the amount asked hy the applicant. Louis Colvin Secures Season's Prize Specimen Near Waldport. (Special Dlapateb to Tha Journal.) Waldnort. Or.. Sept. 24. Elk have been plentiful near Waldport this sea son and a number of Portland people have secured them. Probably the best air of horns was obtained by Iouls V. !olvln of Waldport. Theae have seven prongs on each aide and are the largest seen here for some time. The teeth of this animal were exceptionally fine.
