Blodgett, a lapidist of Portland, is
ramped with a party of Portland peo
ple on the beach south - of Waldport.
Mr. Blodgett has found some very beau
tiful and valuable atonea while here,
one In particular being a large clear
agate containing pyrites of iron on

loans amounting to $46,626 were ap
proed by the land board yesterday. At
the first of the month - similar amount
was' approved making the total for Sep
tember over $90,000.
The number of applications during; the
last few weeks has Increased heavily
and the land board was compelled to

amount asked hy the applicant.

Waldnort. Or.. Sept. 24. Elk have
been plentiful near Waldport this sea
son and a number of Portland people
have secured them. Probably the best
air of horns was obtained by Iouls V.
!olvln of Waldport. Theae have seven
prongs on each aide and are the largest
seen here for some time. The teeth of
this animal were exceptionally fine.
Tha elk was killed about five miles
bove Waldport on the Alsea river.
Mr. Colvin saved the hide, feet and all
parts needed for mounting.
