Toeum, proprietor of the Moun tain View hotel, at Government Camp, ' Mount Hood, has purchased a small portable sawmill, which ha expects to rrelght in ss soon as me snow is mi snd set up near Government Camp. Mr. Yocum saya that one great drawback to the development of a flrs-claaa aum mer resort on the side Of Mount Hood is the great difficulty of getting lumber for building' purposes.' His hotel now has 18 rooms, and he expects to Increase Its size to 40 rooms aa soon aa ha cat) get hla mill at work and the necessary lumber sawed. He has also mad ar rangements with a number of Portland residents to supply them with lumber to build cottagea near his hotel. Mr. Yocum says the summer season at Government Camp wlU open ab-wt June IS. and last three months, during which time Mountain View house will be crowded with visitors. Government Camp la' at an elevation of about 4.000 feet ana has become noted aa a resort for those afflicted with pulmonary troubles. Mr. Yocum was forced to leave Portland 14 years ago on account of lung trouble. He made his residence at Government Camp, and since thvn has enjoyed excel lent health. He left there laat Bundty and says that at that time the snow waa 40 Inches deep around hla hotel, but that It will all be gone by May 25. . Mr. Yocum hopes to have a stage run ning from Government Camp to Sandy thla summer,-there to connect with the regular mall stage. - ' . Portland Automobile ' club member are talking of building a good road from Sandy to Mount Hood, so the round trip from Portland to the camp can be made In one day. CANDIDATES TALK TO . ' SONS OF REVOLUTION CELEBRATE LEXINGTON ' Sons of the American Revolution, to gether with Invited guests, celebrated the one hundredth and thirty-second anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord last, night In the rooms of ths East Bide club.
