The lumber waa loaded from the Tongue Point Lumber Co.'s wharf fpr San Fran- claco. The steamer F. A. Kllburn 1 due to night from Coo Bay with consider able freight and a full passenger list for Astoria and Portland. The weather la rough, but It la expected she will clear the bar. The ateamer Alliance will be due In today from Coos bay with freight and pasaengera. - The ateamer Harrison la due from Alsea. and, weather permitting, the steamer Sue H. Dan O'Nell, for many years purser on the O. R. & N. steamers plying be ween Atsorla and Portland, died at hla farm near Oregon City yeaterday. His affable' manners and cheer ful disposition endeared htm to the traveling public. It seems that the amendments pro posed by the charter revision commit tee are not all that the people demand. Tha better element, and those not al lied with the police commission ring re urging an amendment, giving the council discretionary powers In grant ing liquor licenses. There seems to be determined effort to weed out some of the. disreputable saloons In the low er end of town.
