The measure will o before the voters at the general elec tion to be held Tuesday, November 2. It Is estimated that 70 per cent of money leaned in Oronr.n comes from cu!:!lde the R'ntp. and this would be withdrawn over right if such a meas ure as this should pass. The wording of I lie proposed meas ure apppars to benefit the borrower by giving him cheap intnpst rates nut low rater, without any money to Inr row v!ll not help the man ne.ed.ng money. With he U. S. Government paying 6 per cent for money what, chance would individuals in Oregon stand to get it at 4 and 5 per cent? Franklin T. Griffith, president of Portland Railway Light and Power Company, says the measure would lit erally ruin the Btate. It would clo.se industries and throw thousands of men out of work.
