Governor West in his address at Newport yesterday, spoke at some length on the Lincoln county tide land case, as recently decided in the State Supreme Court. The Gover nor said that as the matter now stands the railroad company has Linco'n county completely bottled up. But, in his opinion, the Legis lature had no right to make any such grant of the tidelands to the railroad. He spoke of a similar case occurring in the state of Illi nois and when it was carried up to the United States Supreme Court the state won out. He intends that the state of Oregon shall carry this case up to the United States Su preme Court in the near future, and he wants the people of Lincoln county to stand back of him. Immediately at the close of his speech a resolution was introduced and read by Mr. Blanchard endors ing the action taken by the State Land Board Someone in the crowd moved the adoption of the resolu tion and upon the same beng put to a vote was carried unanimously. -,.
