STATE TO CARRY TIDE
LAND CASE UP.
Governor West in his address at
Newport yesterday, spoke at some
length on the Lincoln county tide
land case, as recently decided in the
State Supreme Court. The Gover
nor said that as the matter now
stands the railroad company has
Linco'n county completely bottled
up. But, in his opinion, the Legis
lature had no right to make any
such grant of the tidelands to the
railroad. He spoke of a similar
case occurring in the state of Illi
nois and when it was carried up to
the United States Supreme Court
the state won out. He intends that
the state of Oregon shall carry this
case up to the United States Su
preme Court in the near future,
and he wants the people of Lincoln
county to stand back of him.
Immediately at the close of his
speech a resolution was introduced
and read by Mr. Blanchard endors
ing the action taken by the State
Land Board Someone in the crowd
moved the adoption of the resolu
tion and upon the same beng put
to a vote was carried unanimously.

There is no reason why people
should suffer with the pangs of the

that trouble which are positive in

Thursday, June 6th the General
Committe of the. ,Lincoln County
Fair and Festival called upon the
County Court and requested an ap
propriation for use of the Commit
tee in conducting the coming Fair.
While the Committee appreciated
the fact that the County Court is
not in the Fair , business, at the
same time in view pf the fact that
the members of the"Committee "do
nate their time and labor, without
any remuneration,:" find also in view
of the fact that a county fair con
ducted on a conservative business
basis is most certainly one of the
best, concisest and .cheapest medi
ums of advertising,-the Commit
tee, after, deliberate consideration,
decided upon asking ' financial as
sistance from the County Court.
The Court granted the request to
the extent of $500 to- be used by
the Committee for premiums and
$125 to be used as premiums for
school children. At a meeting of
the Committee held that same even
ing it was moved and unanimously
carried that this appropriation made
by the County Court be used en
tirely and exclusively for premiums.
and the committee, on premiums
was instructed to proceed with
their lists. The Committee is now
in a fortified position, ie.. they can
positively pay all cash premiums
advertised. What-we need now is
the co-operation of every citizen
and exhibits from' all parts of the
county, ur course it is auite a
bit of trouble to - assemble and
handle the stuff you want to' send,
but you did ever do anything worth
while that was not some trouble?
Just remember that in helping the
air you are not helping it alone,
but yourseif. Did it ever strike
you that it causes considerable
pride to be able to tell your friends
and neighbors that you were suc
cessful in winning a prize (whether
cash or, ribbon) at the county fair.
Try it. Why can't you get it; only
on9 reason why you cannot and that
is by not trying, ' The Committee
is terribly in earnest with its work
and wants your help. Can't you
get in the band wagon; Try it.

more trouble than many

The food you eat ferments
in your stomach, and the
poisons it forms are ab
sorbed into your whole

cleanse your system from
these undesirable poisons.

Often the hunt for a rich wife
ends when the man meets a woman
that uses Electric Biitters. Her
strong nerves tell in a bright brain
and even temper. Her peach-bloom
complexion and rudy lips result
from her pure blood; her bright
