As he is too old to go to school, he is thinking of applying for the janitor ship of the school house so that he may see her oftener. Salmon River says Siletz Bay is not going to out boom them. They are going to have a cheese factory and sawmill both next spring. Just watch Lincoln county grow. Three flourishing stores, a saw mill and a cheese factory at Taft. What d'ye think of that? In Memoriam. These are the words spoken by Hany CIiiiiirt .is Lo vris 2j"ir. Tuesday morning, November 19, 1907. 'That he was so happy and willing to leave this world in death. lie told us how glorious it was in the other world and how this world was not good enough for him to live in any longer. He told us how the church he belonged to, or believed in was Our Holy Catholic Church and it was the same in Heaven. Every time he closed his eyes he told us that the Priest was standing in the center of the world blessing the people, and that there was no sorrow and that the people were so happy. He prayed and sang so nice and made us pray with him, and we tried with all our strength to save him but he said we couldn't. He said even our Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and was buried, so why should "not he go to that Holy land. He said for us to stand in a row, three of us, and we did, and he made ua keep quiet and bless ourselves and when we did he said now the people are coming for me, so he shook hands with us and bid us good bye. and told us not to cry as it wasn't necessary to mourn. He showed us all the good things, how nice and holy everything was, and how we were suffering on this earth and that he was going where they suffer no more. " So at 12:40 a. m. he passed away. Mrs. Clara Chapman. Mrs. Lena Orton. If an editor makes a mistake he has to apologise for it, but if a doc tor makes a mistake he buries it. If an editor makes one there is a lawsuit, swearing and the smell of sulphur, but is a doctor makes one there is a funeral, cut flowers and the smell of varnish. A doctor can use a word a yard long without knowing what it means, but if an editor uses it he has to spell it out. Any old college can make a doctor. You can't make an editor, he has to be born. Success Magazine. This is a turkey item : Oregon produced a record turkey crop this year. Prices were so good in 1907 that the turkey raisers branched out extensively, and consequently, over did it. The larger part of the local supply comes from Douglas county where the climatic conditions are ideal for this kind of farming. One lot of 1000 went to Alaska.
