One Year - - - f 1 50 Six Months - - 75 Three Months - 50 ItEPUJtLICA X TICKET. Fob Phkbidkxt Will lam McKinley For Vick Pjikbidkxt Theodore Itoosevelt Hon. II. W. Corbett announces himself as a candidate for the United States senate. He is the defendant in a damage suit, charged with weaning a woman away fiotn her hubby, or something of that kind, and thinks his election to a seat in the United States senate would prove his innocence. This is certainly in the nature of an in novation. A' member of the great United States senate should be old enough to be tame. When Mr, Corbett has squared himself in court he will then have proven that he is not too young for the position to which he aspires. The legislature inay then weigh his other qualifica tions with those of other aspirants. But the charge against him indi cates that he is too young to hold down a seat in such a dignified body, and he should remove that obstacle before he can hope to see his little boomlet expand. Last Sunday was such a nice day in Portland that it received a beauti ful eulogy from a delighted and grateful paragrapher of the Oregon ian. The question of the poet "What is so rare as a day in June?" has been answered. Kvidently a day in July that is, a pleasant day in Portland. Now here on Yaquina bay the day in July that isn't delightful is very rare, and it we had a spasm of joy or some thing on account of each perfect day, the subject would be over worked. Kverybody invited. The Fortieth Annual State Pair, lo be held at Salem September 17 to 22 inclusive is designed by the Oregon State Board of Agriculture to be "The greatest industrial ex. position ever held on the Pacific coast." Ten thousand dollars will be given in premiums on livestock, agricultural, horticultural, dairying exhibits, etc. Those who are in terested may obtain a premium list by addressing M. 1). Wisdom, sec retary, Portland, Oregon. William Jennings Bryan was feeling unusually well the other day and declared to an interviewer that he does not believe the repub licans will carry a single state in the coiniii presidential election. "The Nebraska Lily," as he was called at Kansas City, is either un truthful or silly. Unless he learns to keep his balance a little better he'll have hard work to carry Texas. . . During last May an infant child of our neighbor was suffering from cholera infantum. The doctors had given up nil hopes of recovery. I took n bottle of Chamberlain's C ilic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Rem edy to the house, telling them I felt sure it would do good if use4 ac cording to directions. In two days time the child had hilly recovered. The child is now vigotons and healthy. I have recommended this remedy frequently and have never known it to fail. Mrs.Curtis Baker, Bookwalter, Ohio.
