The Fifleld reached Coos Day yes terday after completing her first round trip to San Francisco. The trip up was very good, the run being made In about forty hours despite the heavy fog that prevailed off the coast and made the entrance dlfil cult. She had considerable fruit and a fair cargo of other freight. She also carried a number of passengers. She I will load with lumber nt the Smith mill and sail for 'Frisco Friday. Night AVatchman AValter Condron said last night that ho had not been informed of any change in the city's regula tions requiring saloons to closo at midnight and that ho would not per mit any of them to remain open all night during tho fair. Some one had circulated tho report that tho saloons would not be required to close until 2 o'clock during the fair. Sends Fish to Fisherman, R, F. AVIlIlams, who Is enjoying an outing on' Coos River and Is also trying his luck as a fisherman, Is waiting for a chance to get even with some one for an Injury to his fisherman pride. A number have been catching so'me fine salmon trout on South Coos River and while Mr. AVIlIlams hadn't broken tho record, ho had strong hopes of getting a flno trout ono of these days. Tho other day ho ro colved a package from Marshfleld and upon opening It found It to bo a largo salmon trout with tho Intima tion that "they had decided to re ward his efforts." Tho council was not fully agreed on tho kind of a franchise they would ho willing to grant and thought It would be necessary to Investigate It fur ther. . a Recovers From Appendicitis. -Mrs. David Morse of Empire, was In Marshfleld today, having como over to visit her daughter, Miss Anotto Morso who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis at Mercy hospital.
