Livingston lias purchased the building formerly occupied by the Elk Drugstore, having closed the deal for it the last of the week. I. C. Cockerharn of Butler, Oregon, is spending several days in this locality, looking over the country, probably wnh n view (o investing. Dr. Harold Clark and wife are In town from the Liumnla neighborhood. Dr. Clark has opened up his dental oflice at the Green Hotel and will spend several weeks here. The Kail term of Circuit Couit meets at Ptineville the 19th of this month, and a number of criminal cases are set for irial n thet time. Several jurors have been subpeunaed from tins locality. Tice Loucks left last week for Hugenr, where he goo to enter the bimness col lege at that place. He rode horseback across the mountains and will duposc of his horse after he reaches Eugene. An Ordination Council will be held tit Madras, Saturday, October 24, by the Middle Oregon llaptist Association, Ah especial invitation is extended to delegate from other churches in this district to be present. A. C. Sanford is building a dwelling house on his lots in the Northern part ol .the lowH. The lumber is on the ground and he expects to have it ready for occu pancy before winter sets in. Geo. Rich ardson has charge of the carpenter work. J. H. Ackerman, state superintendent of public instruction, L. R. WILL BEGIN DRILLING SOON The Madias Oil & Gas Co. expects to resume drilling at their well on the West slope of Grizzly in the next week or so. They have secured the services of S. L. Heck, an experienced oil well driller, and he is expected to arrive here in n few days 'The new Star drilling outfit arrived at Shaniko some tunc ago and it is now be nig set-up at the well. The machinery will nil be in place by the time Mr. Heck arrives, and drilling will be resumed at once The well at the prrscnt lime is down only 15a feet, work having hcen Mispend co until the heavier machinery could he procured The new machinery has capacity of about 3000 (eet in depth, and no further trouble is anticipated.
