Major McKinley tells a Chicago reporter that not only is he going to be handsomely, elected himself this fall, but the Ohio legislature will be republican beyond a doubt. Corvallis' boom is the right kind of a boom. A short cessa tion will not cause things to drop below par with a sudden impulse. Corvallis is destined to be a great city, and we don't giro a tinker's darn how soon that is. The New York Sun (Dem.) ealls attention to the fact that Gro ver Cleveland has actually appear ed on the stump in Ohio, although not speaking for the democrats. Major McKinley read Cleveland's letters against free silver with striking effect in his opening speech. - The Ohio republicans are using a most effective campaign badge. It is a. medallion of bright Ameri can tin, such . tin . as is . used in workingmen's pails. It has em b )fsed on it in the middle: "1891; McKinley and Harris,' .Ohio.'' Several society ladies of Ta coma have organized a "rainy day club," the object being to encour . age the wearing on wet days of dresses that do not reach below the ankles. This is a seasonable protest against the fashion of wearing dresses that sweep up the mud and filth of the streets, and is therefore in the interest of both sense and cleanliness. A Georgia judge performed the most wholesome fining job on record the other day.
