B I old soldiers generally act as gmrd.ot honor tor the volunteers on their rttur i The Mustering Out. Where the Oregon boys will be mus tered out is the exclusive topic of con versation on the streets. The report to day that they had voted unanimously to be mustered out in San, Francisco was received here with some eatisacti m on account of the big saving, and the gen eral sentiment that Portland was trying to get them for a f how. The headingin the Oregonian today "Want No Recept iou" waa an insuit to their manhood. Reception has nothing to do with it. It is a matter of business. They will particu larly rejoice at a reception from their own people, which they will receive en thusiastically. Mrs. Capt. Phillips received a dis patch from Capt. Phillips this morning announcing his safe arrival and that they would probably be mustered out in San Francisco, also requesting her to join hiin there, which she will probably do. It is gratifying to learn that all the men arrived safe and well. Hon. T. J. Stites returned this noon f Jom a trip to the Dalles. , Mr. and Mr. A. R. Mi Coy went to Portland today ou a visit. He is now at the home of Mrs. Purdy, end is not as well as usual, being threatened with an at tack of pneumonia. The Shaw company has been playing in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho for six years, but has hitherto ac counted Corvallis too small a town to visit. Mr. Shaw on arrival laid aside $75 that he expected to be loser in Corvallis, but the company went away with all ex penses paid and several dollars ahead. Accordingly Corvallis is to be added to the company's regular route, and will be visited sgain next season. Are you going To the Elk's excurtion Next Sunday. There'll be a crowd.
