Ovor two million words of evidence were taken from ISO witnesses in the famous Hicks trial, now concluded. By usimj the Dictaphone -system each day it was possible to typewrite the evidence the same day and furnish each attorney with copy. In a recent report of President Taft's Econ omy and Efficiency Commission it was asserted that over $r00.000 a year in expense, plus enor mous increase in efficiency, could lie secured if the Dictaphone system were installed in the Government departmental work of Washington, D. C.
