Both events return on Saturday, May 9. St. Johns Bizarre and Parade Vendors, residents, business owners, and an all-volunteer staff invite the community to join them Saturday, May 9 for the St. Johns Bizarre, a free event that kicks off Portland’s spring and summer street fair season and follows the popular St. Johns Parade. Now in its ninth year, the Bizarre brings an eclec- tic lineup of local musical talent, dozens of craft vendors and artists, and a beer garden featuring only locally-brewed libations to St. Johns downtown pla- za in the shadow of the majestic St. Johns Bridge. On stage this year will be Tango Alpha Tango, Mic Capes, The Shivas, Sapient and the Tezeta Band. The parade begins at noon and the bizarre runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rap Show at the Roseland Bay area rapper E-40 (right) joins fellow hip-hop artists Stevie Stone and Cool Nutz at the Roseland Theater on Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. Known for being at the forefront of the Bay Area’s Hyphy up tempo rap genre, E-40 has collaborated with the likes of such hip hop stars as Lil’ Jon, Snoop Dogg and Mac Dre. Story Time and Crafts to Honor Mom Concordia University Libraries’ Art & Culture Program, in partnership with Urban Mommy, Inc., is hosting a special Children’s StoryTime on Satur- day, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. in honor of Mother’s Day. You’re invited to join the event and all the fun of making your own framed photo present for mom! A photographer will be present to take pictures and we will supply all the craft materials for a beautiful frame! This event is drop-in, no registration is required. StoryTime will last about an hour; followed by the photo booth and craft time. Light refreshments will be provided. Urban Mommy Inc is an online community and or- ganization supporting Urban Moms.
