Folks flock to the St. Johns Bizarre each year, an event held in conjunction with the north Portland
neighborhood’s annual St. Johns Parade. Both events return on Saturday, May 9.
St. Johns Bizarre and Parade
Vendors, residents, business owners, and an
all-volunteer staff invite the community to join them
Saturday, May 9 for the St. Johns Bizarre, a free event
that kicks off Portland’s spring and summer street fair
season and follows the popular St. Johns Parade.
Now in its ninth year, the Bizarre brings an eclec-
tic lineup of local musical talent, dozens of craft
vendors and artists, and a beer garden featuring only
locally-brewed libations to St. Johns downtown pla-
za in the shadow of the majestic St. Johns Bridge.
On stage this year will be Tango Alpha Tango,
Mic Capes, The Shivas, Sapient and the Tezeta
Band. The parade begins at noon and the bizarre
runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Rap Show at the Roseland
Bay area rapper E-40 (right) joins fellow hip-hop artists Stevie
Stone and Cool Nutz at the Roseland Theater on Wednesday,
May 13 at 8 p.m. Known for being at the forefront of the Bay
Area’s Hyphy up tempo rap genre, E-40 has collaborated
with the likes of such hip hop stars as Lil’ Jon, Snoop Dogg
and Mac Dre. Tickets run for $25 and the show is open to all
ages. For more information, visit roselandpdx.com.
