Gospel Concert to Fight Violence Emmanuel Temple hosts holiday benefit The community is invited to join an evening of music, arts, inspiration, and sharing through an extraordinary holiday benefit concert, Friday, Nov. 23, at Emmanuel Temple Church, 1033 N. Sumner. Doors open at 6 p.m. The headline artist is Eric Carrington of Houston Texas, a nationally recognized Urban Gospel con temporary musician. Portland local Jazz Saxophon ist, Eldon T. Jones and Northwest Poet and musi cian Jacqueine M. Echols will perform as well. Evan gelist Rochelle Jones of Seattle will lead praise and worship. Additional drama and music sets will complete the evening. The concert will support efforts to stop gang violence and promote a dialog on the importance of stopping gang violence in our communities and neighborhoods. Proceeds go to support Emmanuel J Eldon T. Jones Eric Carrington Community Services, a non-profit, faith-based organiza tion dedicated to serving and impacting the lives of the most vulnerable among us. The group's vision is of a diverse community that is vibrant, self-sustaining, and empowering; and one that promotes the spiritual, economic, and educational wellbeing of its children, youth and families.
