No Holds Barred ‘Love Fire’ White Bird Uncaged will present the North American premiere of award-winning Israeli- American choreographer Y asmeen Godder’ s Love Fire, for three 8 p.m. performances on Thursday, March 29, through Saturday, March 31 at Lincoln Hall, Portland State University. Godder has received worldwide acclaim for her intensely physical, no-holds-barred approach to movement. Set to recordings of well-known waltzes, Love Fire gives an ex hilarating new twist to stereotypes of males and female identity and the roles they play within a relationship. The desire to fall in love, to lose control, to be transformed and taken by passion is explored through bold physicality and bi zarre imagery. Packy, a Portland icon, made in ternational news in 1962 as the first elephant bom in the Western Hemi sphere in 44 years. Newspapers and radio stations around the world announced the birth, and Life magazine covered the event with an 11 -page spread describing “The Nativity of Packy.” Gifts flooded the zoo— everything from gold-plated safety pins to hand-knitted baby clothing to an elephant-sized quilt — and visitors flocked to see the new pachyderm. As Packy’s 50th birthday ap proaches, the zoo is working to pre serve his history and would like to augment its visual records from Packy’s early years.
