The film is a story o f Caroline I Hudson), a live-in nurse who finds herself deep in the marshes and bayous o f southern L ouisiana, where she experiences hoodoo, a little-known culture of strange ritu als and rites that has existed for generations. For those secure in their skepticism, these practices are easily dismissed as colorful super stition, borne from a crucible of influences from Africa, France, the Caribbean and Spain. But for those who cross the dark threshold into belief, everything feared becomes real.
