Stevens has been an assistant city attorney in Salem the past eight years, and previously worked for a law firm conducting civil litigation. She graduated from Lewis and Clark’s Northwestern School of Law, and received her undergradu ate degree in Organizational Com munication, with a minor in busi ness, from California State Univer sity, Chico. A national search was conducted to fill the position, and finalists were interviewed by five different panels, including members of the public. Stevens starts in her position on July 18. The Independent Police Review Division oversees the investiga tion and resolution of citizen com plaints against police officers and makes recommendations relating to Police Bureau policy and training.
