an excellent communicator. She is
the best fit for this position, and can
strengthen the connections be­
tween the community and the Po­
lice Bureau,” Blaekmer said.
Stevens has been an assistant
city attorney in Salem the past eight
years, and previously worked for a
law firm conducting civil litigation.
She graduated from Lewis and
Clark’s Northwestern School of
Law, and received her undergradu­
ate degree in Organizational Com ­
munication, with a minor in busi­
ness, from California State Univer­
sity, Chico.
A national search was conducted
to fill the position, and finalists
were interviewed by five different
panels, including members of the
public.
Stevens starts in her position on
July 18.
