The show comes to Kel ler Audi torium from Oct. 19 through 24 as part of Fred M eyer's Broadway in Portland series. Leslie, a New Yorker, is touring with the show straight from Broad way. Bringing a puppet to life for an audience is a chai lenging role for an actor, but Leslie has lots o f prac tice. Leslie says he approaches it like an actor, not a voice over, and ac tually practices with the actors onstage at rehearsals. "You have to make the audience believe that what is onstage is ac tually coming from the stage and not me in a sound booth offstage. I do everything the puppet does, twirling around and doing things in the booth, so I’m a sight for the crew and stage hands," Leslie says. He adds, "I'm actually an actor, not ju st someone standing in a booth and doing a voice over. It takes on a lot of hue when you are an actor besides being a singer.” “Little Shop o f Horrors” runs Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 p.m..
