Cascade Campus is located at 705 N. Killingsworth. At the college’s Rock Creek Campus, 17705 NW Springville Road, the Grant High School Gospel Choir will perform on Feb.2 at noon in building 3. Jam es W. R eede, JR ., noted community activist and lecturer, will speak at both Cascade and Sylvania campuses on Black inventors on Feb.9. His presentation, “The Best Kept Secret in America: The genius o f African American Inventor,” can be heard at Cascade Campus at 10 a.m. in Terrell Hall, Room 112; and at the Sylvania Campus in the upper mall o f the CC Building. On Feb. 12, PCC hosts the uplifting musical e x p e rie n c e , th e G ospel Explosion, at the Bethesda C h ristia n C hurch, 109 N. Emerson. In its 16 year, proceeds from ribbons sold for $ 1 will be on sale to benefit the PCC Foundation’s Robert Wright scholarship fund. W right, w ho had p re v io u sly organized the event and was president ofcascade campus student r body, died last year from AIDS. Womyn with Wings, a choreopoem w ritten by A frican- American playwright J .H ., will be held at all three campuses. The fast-paced performance also includes music and dance. On Feb. 21, the play will be performed at noon at the Sylvania Campus; and at 7p.m. At the North star Ballroom next to the Cascade campus at 635 N. Killingsworth. It wi II be performed at the Rock Creek Campus at noon on Feb.22 in the Forum, Building 3. Woven throughout the story o f the neighborhood are stories of Duke Ellington’s early years - his birth in 1899, his parents, his education, and his first success as a local bandleader. Featured are jazz pianist Billy Taylor, historians James O. Horton and Edward C. Smith, Charles and Virginia Williams (who fell one of Duke Ellington’s composition, “I Let A Song Go Out o f My Heart”), Alice Spraggins (daughter O f Henry Grant, Ellington’s first music teacher), photographer Robert H.
