Notice of Cancellation of Public Hearing Notice is hereby given that the public hearing previously scheduled to be held by the T ri-county Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met) at 3:30 pm, W ednesday, O ctober 26, 1994, at the Public Service Building, 3200 SE Harrison St., Milwaukie, Oregon, will not be held because no requests for hearing were received. The hearing would have been held for the purpose of considering two grant applications requesting capital assis tance from the Federal Transit Administration. One grant application concerns the W estside-Hillsboro Light Rail Project. Tri-Met plans to request fiscal year 1995 funds for continuation of the rail project including $90,350,000 and $21,128,480 under two Federal Transit Administration Title 49 programs; and $11,000,000 in funding available through the ISTEA Surface Transportation Program. These federal funds would be matched with $46,178,497 in local and state dollars. Project expenditures will support right-of-way acquisition; final design; procurem ent of vehicles, track, signals and equipm entforcom m unications and fare collection, and other system requirements; construction; and project administra tion. The W estside-Hillsboro rail line is expected to begin operation in Fall of 1998. A separate grant application concerns the Banfield MAX Station Platform Retrofit. This project consists of modifying existing platforms to accommodate the introduction of low floor light rail vehicles into current MAX system. The height of the platforms must be increased by about two inches. Total funding of $8,500,000 ($7,650,000 federal; $850,000 local match) requested in the grant application would finance remaining design, construction and administrative activities. The project would begin in January 1995 and conclude in June 1996. While formal public testimony will not be taken on the applications at this October 26 meeting of Tri-M et’s Board of Directors, the meeting is open to all.
