On this special Sunday morning— M o the r’ s Day or rather M o the r’ s Day OFF—a special breakfast is in order! Fathers and children who be come to cooks for the day w ill ap preciate Easy P u ll-A p a rt Coffee Cake. I t ’ s a quick-to-prepare recipe featuring two convenience products — 100% natural cereal and refriger ator biscuit dough. This delicious, ready-to-eat cereal adds a delicate crunch to the outside o f these tender biscuits. Convenient 100% natural cereal is a special blend of six ingredients: rolled oats, whole wheat, almonds, coconut, honey and brown sugar. To vary the flavor, use cither the original, rai sins & dates or apple & cinnamon flavors. Serve warm from the oven with a glass o f juice, an egg and special M other’ s Day touches. There’ s no need for butter, because this coffee cake has its own buttery flavor. The secret to this recipe is letting mother think you fussed, when really it was Easy Pull-Apart Coffee Cake! EASY PU LL-AP A R T COFFEE CAKE I cup 100% natural cereal, crushed ‘/ j cup firm ly packed brown sugar !4 teaspoon cinnamon One 10-oz. pkg. refrigerated biscuit dough 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted Heat oven to 400°F. Combine cereal, sugar and cinnam on; mix well. Separate dough into biscuits half into butter; ro ll in cereal mix ture. Arrange biscuits in lig h tly greased 8-inch round cake pan; driz zle with any remaining butter and sprinkle with any remaining cereal mixture. Bake at 400 °F. for 15 to 20 minutes or u n til golden brown. Serve warm. Make 8-inch round coffee cake. Easy Pull-Apart Coffee Cake is great for a M other's Day surprise breakfast. I t ’s a peach o f a shortcake! We think you’ ll agree that this is a real peach o f a shortcake. Why? First, because Peach Pecan Short cake takes great advantage o f fresh peaches. This double-decker delight is pre pared from Aunt Jemima Complete Pancake and Waffle Mix, a product which already contains enriched flour, vegetable shortening, leaven ing, egg, nonfat dry milk and salt. You’ll find it a shortcut to shortcake that doesn't sacrifice that old- fashioned good fla vo r. You only need to add sugar, butter and water for a golden brown shortcake you’ ll long remember. When Peach Pecan Shortcake comes from the oven, let it cool five minutes. Slice it in half horizontally, f ill it w ith fresh peach slices (or canned ones) and replace the top. Then you’re ready to cut it into serv ing pieces. F inally, top each piece with whipped topping, sprinkle w ith chopped nuts and drizzle with the crowning glory, syrup. Dazzling! As we say, it’s a peach o f a short cake! PEA CH PEC A N SHOP TCA KE Crisco Shortening 2'/ j cups pancake and waffle mix V* cup sugar Vi cup water Vi cup butter or margarine, melted 2 cups fresh peach slices 2 cups whipped topping '/ j cup chopped pecans Maple syrup. Heat oven to 425 °F. Grease 9- inch round cake pan. Combine pancake mix and sugar; add water and butter, mixing just until dry in gredients are moistened. Spread into prepared pan. Hake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 min utes; remove from pan, Slice cake in h a lf h o rizo n ta lly. Fill with peach slices. Replace top. Cu, in to serving pieces. Top each piece with whipped topping; sprin kle with chopped nuts. Drizzle with syrup. Makes one 9-mch shortcake <6 to 8 servings).
