Tid Bits for Living By R E V . TJL^STR A YH A N D J .C . Braswell defined youth In thia manner: "Y outh la not a tim e In lif e - It la a state of mind. You are aa young as your faith, aa old as your doubt; as youi^aa your self-confidence, aa ojd as your fear; as young as youi hope as old as your d esp air.” I am m ore convinced each day that youth of today have a real sense of values not always understood by some of the adults and yet It Is a sense of values which prac tices what the older geneiat Ion has been preaching all the tim e. A Sunday School teacher boas ted to the m in is te r that the child ren In his class could recite the ten compisndments without a flaw The m in ister asked, "D o they understand them? " T h e very confident school teacher allowed the m in ister to examine the mem bers of the class. A little boy .started reciting the command ments and when he said, "H onor thy father and thy m o th e r," the m in is te r stopped him and asked him to explain. The little boyex- plalned it this way. "Y esterd ay 1 showed an old man the way over the mountain and the sharp stones cut my feet. I he man saw they were bleeding. 2 4 -h o u r p r a y e r February 24, 1971 at Bethel AM E Church, 5828 N E 8th Ave. This is a day of p rayer for a ll of Portland.
