    Tid Bits for Living
By R E V . TJL^STR A YH A N D
J .C . Braswell defined youth In
thia manner: "Y outh la not a
tim e In lif e - It la a state of mind.
You are aa young as your faith,
aa old as your doubt; as youi^aa
your self-confidence, aa ojd as
your fear; as young as youi hope
as old as your d esp air.” I am
m ore convinced each day that
youth of today have a real sense
of values not always understood
by some of the adults and yet It
Is a sense of values which prac
tices what the older geneiat Ion
has been preaching all the tim e.
A Sunday School teacher boas
ted to the m in is te r that the child
ren In his class could recite the
ten compisndments without a flaw
The m in ister asked, "D o they
understand them?
" T h e very
confident school teacher allowed
the m in ister to examine the mem
bers of the class. A little boy
.started reciting the command
ments and when he said, "H onor
thy father and thy m o th e r," the
m in is te r stopped him and asked
him to explain. The little boyex-
plalned it this way.
"Y esterd ay 1 showed an old
man the way over the mountain
and the sharp stones cut my feet.
I he man saw they were bleeding.

R ev. John Jackson
It would be impossible to w rite
this column of the many co n tri
butions the Rev. ¿ohn Jackson-
has made to our community
since a rriv in g here from Seattle,
Washington and taking charge at
O livet B aptist. He is re fe rie d b y
many as a man of a c tio n ;!a g re e .
1 sincerely believe that with the
he I d and support of men of action
such as Rev. Johnson we w ill be
able to rebuild our community in
the not too distant future. Noth
ing Is impossible if we stand
united and support efforts de
signed to better our com m unity.
We wish to commend M r .
Jackson and other C lerg y who
have achieved this needed pi oject
and fo r the faith they have in th eir
com m unity. John Jackson, who
w ill probably from now on be
called the "C om m unity's man of
A c tio n ."
Can you Imagine having such a
person In Albina available that
w ill serve the most deserving
people in our community?
We think that inspite of all the
problem s we have in this area, we
are on an upward clim b fo r mak
ing this neighborhood second to
none. T h is is only the beginning.
The community progress cam
paign continues!_______
