SHORTS Iff FLURRY Excited Buyers Run Wheat Up Against Themselves. MARKET CLOSES STRONG Traders -CnwllUn; to Face Possible Developments Over Holidays. Cold Wave Predictions Also Heighten Bullish Sentiment- CHICAOO. March 20. Unwillingness of shorts this afternoon to face possible de velopments over tha holidays caused ex cited buying of wheat. The close was strong at a nat gala of ftfffto to c Corn was ft o to 0fto up at tha finish. Oats ended tha day at a nat advanoa of fto to ft O fto. Pro visions scored a nat Improve ment of 7 ft to 10c. Many stop loss orders tn tha last quar ter hour of tha wheat market came an tha heels of a little speculative buying. Tha shorts became so flurried that they advanced prices on themselves more than ft o In a very few minutes. Offerings proved scanty, and tha simultaneous de cision of many traders to curtail risks, in view of the board not being In session to morrow, and owing t'o further Interruption of business in England Monday, resulted In the elo-ie hers being at ths top point of the day. Cold wave predictions tended on the whole to heighten bullish sentiment In wheat, but soma authorities professed belief that the extreme low temperatures In the Spring crop belt should be counted as a good con dition at this time. Little attention ap peared to be given to promises of large world's shipments. - - Seaboard clearances of wheat and flour equalled 261.00O bushels. Primary receipts of wheat wera 669.000, as against 412.000 bushels a year ago. Influential buying of July delivery strengthened corn. Thera was considerable realizing, however. In May. Much lighter receipts formed a help on the. buying side. Oata went up with other grain in conse quence of covering by belated shorts. In tha provision pit offerings went up and In splta of lower prices at .the yards, ths market advanced. The upturn was at tributed chiefly to the bulge in grain.
