t THE MORNING OREGONIAN, TUESDAY, JUNE 15, 1900. IS 4. CHILDREN FIRE CITY MEDFORD SEXDS ENGINE CENTRA! POINT. TO Destruction of Entire Village la Threatened for Time, bat by Hard Work Blaze Is Quenched. CENTRAL POINT, Or., Juna 14. (Special.) Fire, started through chil dren playing; with matches, caused the loss of a barn and four dwellings this afternoon and for a time threatened the entire town. The opera-house, livery stable and several other buildlngrs caught fire from the sparks, but each time the fires were extinguished before serious dam age was done. A stiff wind was blow ing and when It appeared that the con flagration would prove a serious one the Med ford fire department was called upon, and responded by arriving on a special train with chemical engines. Central Point Is entirely without water protection, and many of Medford's citl sens came in automobiles to lend as sistance. Only the most herolo efforts saved the city. Ed. Whiteside was painfully, though not seriously injured, by a fall through a roof while fighting the flames. rAII.Y METEOROLOGICAL REPORT. k- PORTLAND, June 14.
